The Update Parent from a Child Collection by AI action enables users to update a parent record using data from its child collection. This is useful when you need AI to process multiple related records and generate insights for the parent record.
For example, you can summarize feedback from multiple submissions linked to an event record.
Steps to Configure the Automation
1. Navigate to the Automation Screen
Go to the Dataset and select the dataset where you want to create an automation.
Click the button at the top right corner of your screen and choose Automations from the dropdown menu. This will open the automation configuration screen.
2. Select a Trigger Event
Choose the event that will trigger your automation (e.g., Record Added, Record Updated).
Click the corresponding + Add Automation button to proceed.
3. Choose Service Provider and Action
Select the service provider: Engyn.
Under the Cognition section, select Update Parent from a Child Collection by AI.

Example Scenario
An Event dataset (parent record) has a Feedback dataset (child collection). The goal is to use AI to summarize feedback and store it in the event record.
Configuration Steps
Child Object & Linked Property: Select the dataset containing the child records. In this case, choose the Event Feedback dataset, as AI will process this data to generate a summary.
Prompt: Define clear AI instructions. Use text templates to insert dynamic values from the records.
Attachment: Upload or link files (e.g., images, documents) from the triggering record to provide context for AI.
Performance and Creativity: Adjust AI settings to balance accuracy and innovation. Higher settings consume more credits.
Data Shared with AI: Select the fields containing relevant data for AI processing. In this example, share fields related to feedback content.
Fields AI can write to: Choose which parent record fields AI will update. If AI-Provided is selected, the field will store the AI-generated output. In this example, AI will update the Feedback Summary field.
5. Activate the Automation
Click Save & Enable to activate the automation.
